Gridbox Pro

See how many Gridfinity cells fit in your drawer.

Measure the inside of your drawer, wall to wall. Gridfinity is built on 42 mm squares, so you'll see how many fit, how much room is left over and how many pieces your printer needs.

Type it the way your tape reads, like 14 3/8.

Drawer Base in Gridbox Pro fills the leftover with a solid edge, so the base fits wall to wall and doesn't slide.

Make this drawer base in Gridbox Pro.

Gridbox Pro, the Gridfinity designer for Mac and Windows, takes these same measurements, fills the leftover with a solid edge and splits the base so every piece fits your print bed. Designing is free and doesn't need an account.

    How to measure your drawer

    1. Measure inside the drawer, along the bottom, from wall to wall. That's where the base sits.
    2. Measure in two or three spots and use the smallest number. Most drawers are a little narrower in places.
    3. Measure to the nearest 1/16 inch or the nearest millimeter. A steel rule or calipers beat a cloth tape.

    Questions

    Why 42 mm?

Gridfinity, the open storage system Zack Freedman designed, is built on 42 mm squares. Every bin and base made for it lines up, whoever made it.

What happens to the leftover space?

A plain baseplate leaves a gap at the edges, so it can slide around. Drawer Base in Gridbox Pro fills that gap with a solid edge, so the base fits snug.

Should I leave room on each side?

Printed parts come out a hair over size, and drawers are rarely square, so a little room helps. 0.5 mm on each side suits most drawers. In Gridbox Pro you choose how much, and which sides get it.

What if my printer is small?

The base splits into pieces that fit your print bed. A smaller bed just means more pieces.
